Drupa 2016

Despite all progress – Be aware of the origins

Germany • Despite all the justified hype about drupa 2016 and the “Touch the Future” motto we should not forget how printing started and what intellectual, social and religious changes it caused. Not more and not less this art opened up the way to knowledge and self-determination for everybody able to read and pathed the way to our modern times. Without printing no religious reformation and not enlightenment would have been possible. This means, our current style of living in liberty and freedom started to evolve with the development of the “black art”.

At the stand of the Gutenberg Museum (Hall 13 Stand C 51) visitors can see some impressive examples of early art of printing.
