TLF Graphics – Good experience with Tau digital label press

After one year of running the new Tau LFS 330 UV Inkjet Digital label press, TLF Graphics reports good experience

USA • The business of the UL-certified label supplier is focused on the production of industrial labeling, product decoration and retail signage. Driven by a combination of quick-turn requirements from customers, the challenges of handling multiple SKUs and the need to reduce inventory, TLF Graphics sought a digital solution for its durable label business. Therefore, the company selected the Durst Tau LFS 330 UV Inkjet Digital label press.

After one year, TLF Graphics reports that its Tau has generated new revenue, reduced costs and improved efficiency in operations. In addition, the average order size for the Tau is nearly double what the company runs on other presses. The company has been very impressed with the LFS 330’s speed, white ink opacity, and variable imaging capability. “It’s truly as close as you can get to rotary screen printing,” Bob McJury, owner at TLF Graphics said. In the follow-up to the installation, the company has also been able to transfer much of its labor-intensive screen printing work to the Tau which resulted in considerable cost savings.

The system features a new in-line digital laser finishing system, incorporating state-of-the-art laser die cutting technology from Spartanics and a 1000-watt laser that delivers precise speed matching, automatic job changeovers and a waste reduction. This permits the management of multiple jobs in a single pass and virtually uninterrupted printing for previously unattainable productivity.
