EFI – Extending inkjet product line with acquisition of Matan

Matan’s Spring3 is an industrial digital thermal transfer printer for the production of labels, decals, membranes, license plates, traffic and other signs

USA • Electronics For Imaging (EFI) has acquired privately-held Matan Digital Printers. Based in Rosh Ha’Ayin, Israel, Matan has developed digital printers and presses for a wide range of industrial applications for more than a decade. The Spring3 is an industrial digital thermal transfer printer, delivering short runs of durable graphics. The system is destined for the production of labels, decals, membranes, license plates, traffic and other signs.

Matan’s work force of approximately 70 employees has joined EFI, giving them a significant presence in Israel, a center for innovation in the printing industry. EFI’s acquisition was an all-cash transaction in which EFI paid the shareholders of Matan approx. USD 29 million to acquire all of the company’s outstanding shares. The transaction is expected to be slightly accretive to FY 2015 earnings.
