GEW – 25 years and beyond

UK • The manufacturer of UV curing systems for printing, coating and industrial applications is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The history of GEW starts in March 1991 when GEW was formed by Gillian and Malcolm Rae to provide the narrow web label market with compact, air-cooled UV curing systems. Over the course of this quarter of a century, the company achieved a leading position in both UV curing technology and the label printing market. GEW has developed several pioneering technology advances with the aim of providing printers, coaters and converters with the most advanced UV curing technology in the industry.

Malcolm Rae, managing director at GEW, is assertive: “As a specialist UV systems manufacturer GEW is actively engaged in researching the potential of UV LEDs for many years but is also committed to further innovate mercury arc lamp technology for label printing, coating and industrial applications.” GEW is headquartered in Crawley, West Sussex, with subsidiaries in the US, Germany and India and operates a network of international distributors worldwide. A feature story about the development and present situation of the company will be published in the next issue of NarrowWebTech.
