CTC – Larger model Turretmaster butt splicer

The larger version of the CTC Turretmaster butt splicer series model S-TAB-50

USA • The company introduced a larger version of its Turretmaster butt splicer series model S-TAB-50. This splicer is said to be application engineered to be compact, user friendly and extremely rugged.

This new model is designed to hold rolls up to 50” (1270 mm) O.D., which have about 56% more footage than the 40” (1016) O.D. model, thereby reducing the number of roll changes per shift.

It will be available in web widths ranging from 10” to 24” (254 to 610 mm) and accommodates core I’D.’s ranging from 3” to 6” (76 to 152 mm). Different sized web festoon options will provide for splice speeds of 500 or 750 fpm (152 or 230 m/min). A CE compliant version is also planned.

Standard features include touch screen operator interface, automatic “gapless” splicing with 1 or 2 pieces of tape, shaftless roll lifting turret design and industry standard PLC control.  Convenient tape dispensers eliminate the need for tape trimmers and dual slide out tape applicators simplify the placement of the splicing tapes. All parts are mounted on a solid base simplifying splicer movement. Shear cutting of both webs is simultaneously on a 7.5 degree angle. It also offers automatic trim of new web and removal of leading edge. Finally, see-thru guarding allows an unobstructed view of the splicer.
